Athletic Health Services

Our Athletic Trainers provide prevention services, emergency care, clinical examination and diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.  Both Athletic Trainers are certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine. The Potomac School’s Athletic Health Care team is composed of our two Athletic Trainers, Precious Barnes and Erin Mulligan.

Policies and Procedures

Precious Barnes received her Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University, her Master of Science degree from Northeastern University, and her Doctorate of Athletic Training from Indiana State University. She serves as a member of the Virginia Athletic Training Association’s Public Relations Committee and has published in the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation. Prior to joining The Potomac School, Precious worked for a physical rehabilitation facility.

Erin Mulligan received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina. Upon graduation, she received her Masters of Science degree from the George Washington University where she was also the graduate assistant athletic trainer for the GW volleyball team. Erin then went on to be the athletic trainer for Georgetown’s women’s lacrosse and football teams for four years prior to arriving at the Potomac School.

Athletic Training Facility Hours

The Athletic Training facility is open from 2:00 - 5:30 pm, or by appointment. During games, the Sports Medicine staff will be on campus attending our Potomac Panthers events. If you need to reach an Athletic Trainer, call 703-873-5541.
